I'm thinking inside this box
And it's a surprise for you
I don't know if you'll like it
But it's something I want to do
So your birthday is the big five O
My, you are young my friend, you see
I am way past fifty, gee whiz
But I'm as happy as can be
I'm still thinking inside this box
My mind is as busy as can be
My friend I have a gift for you
I know you'll smile with glee
I have baked a Birthday Cake
Especially for you
Now it's inside this great big box
And it's chocolate through and through
I didn't put fifty candles on your cake
Only a few here and there
But you can start to cut the cake
For there are plenty of people who'll share

Nice rhyme and flow. It is a great poem. I agree with the Italian below. It is fit for the inside of a birthday card.

Thanks Mike glad you agree with the poet below you. I inquired about this very thing with Hallmark. All of their greeting cards were done by employees. I'm referring to verse writing. Of course this was many years ago, so maybe it has changed. I'm a lot older now, don't think I could stand the pace of a work day or week.
