When you look in the mirror,
Instead of seeing yourself,
You point out everything that's wrong.
"My legs are too big!"
"Just look at my face!"
"I feel like I don't belong..."
You see all the girls
Showing off what they've got
And you wish that you had all they do.
You've said
"Look inside, see the real me!"
But instead you seem to look right through.
Colleen, take a breath,
Cover up your mirror,
Cause in the end, who cares what they say?
You'll live your life
While they're living alone;
That's the price you won't have to pay.
So show your true colors,
The beauty inside;
It's what really matters in time.
Be who you are
And trust what you have
Cause you don't need a reason or rhyme.
Friends will come find you
And you will be loved
I promise you won't have to try.
Others may not like
Who you really are
That's their problem, just let them pass by.
I believe in you
You'll choose the right path
And you'll find your way back on your own.
Just remember I'm with you,
Together we'll make it;
Always know that you're never alone.

Thanks for entering my contest. This is a very beautiful poem. You're right, in the end, what's on the outside is no where close to being as good as what's on the inside. Looks will fade over time.
