Flight of Eagles

F-15s streaked through the dark night;
Two eagles on a deadly flight.
Enemies soon engaged;
A sharp dogfight raged.
The MiG’s splashed into the Libyan bight.

Author notes

Eagle photo prompt from google.com. This is inspired by events surrounding a dogfight between American and Libyan pilots over the Medeterranian Sea in the 1980s.

      Thank you. I think the oddest things inspire me to write poems outside of what the judge intended.

    What a wonderful take on the prompt. To show our countries air strength fits the eagle perfectly. Bravo!

      Thank you. I am glad you enjoyed the poem. The prompt reminded me of images I had seen associated with the Air Force.
