I was that fool
O most foolish of fools
How could I have trusted in you?

More foolish is the fool who fallows
As I had always done
“I am smarter than this!” I falsely asserted
How, I wish I could eat those words
Place them back behind my teeth once more

I can hear it echoing along my ribcage
How proud you must be?
For tricking me yet again, I the fool
“But no more, no more!” I yet again protest
