Climbing the Mountain

Missing image
Climbing the Mountain – Ian Grice

From the crest of a mountain beneath me
A beautiful vista I see,
Whichever direction I’m looking
Whether rainforest, farmland or sea.

There’s a feeling of anticipation,
There’s a gladness that nourishes soul,
And that feeling defies explanation
But you sense that you’re a part of a whole.

Down there in a vale less appealing
There are people who never climb up,
So they never experience the feeling,
On the nectar of life never sup.

And they live out their lives without meaning
‘cause they’ve never desired to climb high,
They prefer their experience demeaning
To potential as grand as the sky.

Come journey with me to my mountain
And I’ll share my grand vista with you,
Let your vision burst forth like a fountain
As we join with the fortunate few.

    A Profound and Powerful Masterpiece!!!

What a beautiful poem!!! I knew when I clicked on the title that this was a winner!!! My favorite lines are these:

    "There’s a feeling of anticipation,
There’s a gladness that nourishes soul,
    And that feeling defies explanation
But you sense that you’re a part of a whole."

I love, love, love this piece!!! Wishing all the best to you, always. Peace, Cyn

Very nice! I live in the mountains here, in California, sometimes you can see the sea, 100 miles away. Of course, that depends on visibility due to smog and overpopulation in the cities. I loathe having to go down into the city for anything, anymore. I'll just stay up here in my mountains, and watch all those busy people marching to their slow, uncomfortable deaths...
Yes, I love this style you have. It's damned near perfect, in my inexperience. Excellent!
