Sequester My Soul

I was so afraid to fall in love
Like it was a curse from up above
I cupped my heart in my hands so tight
Fighting and hanging on for dear life

But a crack appeared when I saw your face
And you slipped inside that special place
And like a thief, you stole my heart
Slow and steady from the start.

You knew I'd been hurt before
And somehow you unlocked that door
Letting my battle-scarred heart be free
So understanding and accepting of me

And I remember the day I saw your face
The day I got my very first taste
Of sweet love coming straight from your heart
Clean and pure since the very start

Now with you here by my side
I thank God every day I'm alive
For that brief moment when my defenses fell
And my fear of love as well.

From the day I saw your face
I knew my pain hadn't been a waste
Just a lesson for my heart
Before my life with you could start.

You touch me down to my entire soul
My damaged heart is finally whole
You hold me tight in one of your hugs
And never have I felt more loved

I look up and see your face
Never do I want to leave this place
Feeling the beat of your loving heart
And knowing this is only the very start.

Author notes

I chose title one, in case you couldn't tell. Hope you like it...sorry if the rhyming sounds a bit forced. I haven't been very inspired lately and this is one of the first I've written for a while, so I'm afraid it's a bit rusty. Anyway, enjoy.
