through the wilderness,
to find space
through the wild trees
to watch the slow
and constant stars.
Getting to the opening,
gap through the forest,
then,
the streaking ball of light,
bright and beautiful,
blinding,
yet I couldn't stop looking,
I knew it couldn't be mine,
from watching,
I knew it wouldn't stay,
but I wished it would.
Then it faded,
like I knew it would,
but I had no taste left,
for the stars that I couldn't see,
blinded by the light.
Author notes
~"and then you shot across the sky like a meteor. suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there was beauty. when you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon, everything went black. nothing had changed, but my eyes were blinded by the light. i couldn't see the stars anymore. and there was no reason for anything."
-New Moon by Stephenie Meyer
28. Write a poem about or from the perspective of a vampire. I prefer traditional vampires to the Twilight generation ones.

This fits the quote from New Moon well. I wasn't expecting this for a vampire poem, but I'm very glad you entered! The imagery is just stunning. Thanks for entering, and good luck.
