Sound waves reverberate
UV rays accumulate
radiation circulates
through the azure sky.
Arsenic taints the soil
PCBs leak and spoil,
abandoned barrels of oil
soak the ground nearby.
Pesticides contaminate,
herbicides don’t discriminate,
fertilizers accentuate
a system gone awry.
Particulate-laden smog
from freeways stopped and clogged
joins the poisonous fog
of chemicals floating high.
Ancient clam beds closed,
the oceans’ level rose.
A toxic current flows
and species disappear with a sigh.
Technology burst into bloom
with the sound of the baby boom.
Now we’re almost out of room
and poisons fill the sky.
