Relativity

Focus
and the eye shall see.

Concentrate
and the mind shall decree.

Imagine
and the soul shall agree.

Create
and you will be free.

So in what order
does one find creativity?

Does one focus and concentrate
then imagine to promote the activity?

Does one bend to the whim
of that to which one has a proclivity?

Or does one wonder at the unattainable
and celebrate one's adaptability?

Focus, concentrate, imagine and create
within and beyond one's own relativity.

*****************************************
The above piece came to be
after reading Yemassee's
"Oh, If I Could Write What My Mind Believes I Can See,"
as I mused in a reply to the interesting piece:

What the mind conceives
requires voice so eloquent
to convey the grandeur
of original intent.

Then the words appear
in printed form,
the voice translated
far beyond the norm.

Whence the challenge,
will the reader follow the scene,
catch the nuances,
see what the writer has seen?

Of course, by the glimmer
of the understated five watt shimmer.

But the writer still has burning concerns
that the mind now sees what it yearns.

Clever the bulb, clever the writer!

*Now the reader must charge off to
Yemassee's page to read the catalyst piece.

    Great piece here

And so true it is we each live a little for the other through our work and often brings understanding where sorrow had lived .

Perhaps I'm addicted to unanswerable questions
or possibilities. It seems there's always one
more option wanting to come to life!!

Skilter! Great to see you here again.

Thank you for the "awesome" and all
      the other words, as well!!

Lately I have been creating the drawing
first, while I keep the words on hold
on my brain. Then it's graphic fun time!

I tend to favor the very top one. Something about the simplicity and light coloring appeals to me.

Your piece here is very interesting, thought stimulating.

Dee, thank you fro the visit!

Yes, the calm color influences the mood.

That color was dubbed "Dusty Teal" by
a fashion designer with whom I was collaborating
      on coordinating jewelry.

Somehow Dorian Gray comes to mind.
Or have I been reading too many
    "Shocking Tales of Horror"
    by resident author of such.

I like the blue background, the one above in bigger size.
Peaceful color, not too dominant but the hues are attractive.

    Hello to you, Mumsy!
    Just passing by.

Summer? Did I just miss you?
So nice to "hear" your words.
Peaceful, right, just what we need.
Will have to look in at SFF
to see more words from you.
      Have been there only infrequently.

I like the orange one a lot. Does that come in maybe a little bigger version? I think there might be a spot on Yem's page for it...as well as that quote you had in the TTG Betty page the other day.

      Oh, for heaven's sake!
They took out several size preferences.
Must put my "figuring-out" mind to work.

Ahhhhhhh, must compute by entering the numbers.

than the small version. Open to suggestions...

The one posted in the reply to Hugh, right?
Photobucket made a really unfortunate change yesterday
in the "resize" area, from screen size, to message
board size, web site, thumbnail and avatar----now only three choices, medium, small and tiny!
(No, kidding, those are the size descriptions
      they now use!!!)

Once reduced, no way back up. Will play with
      another for the effect.

    Dear Aesthete2000

    I wandered as a 5-watt clown
who sees but dimly wisdom wise
and, as I scrolled sedately down,
there opened up before my eyes
    a host of golden epithets
with artwork which I do surmise
    only a gold subscription lets.

While I, a silver member poor,
    to such adornment can’t aspire
but only can, in humble awe
    thy artistry and words admire,
    yet can I hazily discern
the purports that the wise inspire
and which my clownish homage earn.

With applause, love and hugs, XXX Hugh.
    (and apologies to Wordsworth)

Aha, wise Hugh, you bring in
      the Yemassee five reference,
      which only wise readers
      who did "charge off"
      will fully entertain!

      If Wordsworth were a contemporary
      and had discovered the internet
and AP, he most certainly would have
the venerable Hugh among his favorites!

Thank you for your interesting comments
      presented in such fine form.

      Hmmmm, "golden epithets."

I definitely bend to the whim, and sadly it usually shows with strained writing.

Of course the real answer is probably, "All of the above and more." I'm guessing the creative process is like the human body, a lot of processes working together to hopefully create a life.

Thanks for mentioning my Yemassee, the third head of the triad...the whimsical one. I guess that makes Ima the smart one and me the creative one...egads, we all got short straws! lol

Anyway, a wise, thought provoking poem and not, despite all my bubbin' I really don't have the answer...but it is fun pretending I do.

I like the graphic, for me it reminds me of the Gutenberg press and of course that hallway to inspiration. Ah look at those colors so far away and so unattainable for me..but I shall keep trying...maybe one day I will reach that hallowed land of creative excellence.

      Re bending to the whim---
perhaps the mere use of the term,
      "bending," puts the thought
      of his writing being strained
into your brain, for the reader
feels no strain, but the urge
to tune up one's own brain
      to follow the illusions
      crafted on the page!

      Yes, questions with more
      questions as answers. And
      everything appears relative,
      mood, the weather, life experience,
      the words of another---all relating
to the inspirations that lead to
      creativity, a finished product.

And yet there is usually some element
that does not quite satisfy us,
some imperfection as we see it,
      so we plunge forward again,
      and yet again!

Ah, the famed press. I see the squared
similarities. What a contrast to today's
ease of sending word to the page!

      Key, great bubblin'from you!!!!

Bringing the bright colors into close proximity...

I'm good at imagining, so bad at focusing...
Images come and go and sometimes I just can't
hold them long enough to create more than fluffy clouds
    figures in my mind.
Your poem and graphics are so well done, as usual, and the poem/comment is quite insightful, specially after reading Yem's poem.
I always enjoy visiting your page

Hey, Mariza! good to see you.

Yem noted this morn that the comment should
make it to the page on its own, so I gave it
      a try this way.

Yem's poem had so many references,
so many illusions to think about,
all relative to trying to put on paper
      what is in the mind.

      Thank you, Mari!
