Don’t you Dare
I wish I could sleep but I have too much on my mind.
I have been thinking about some children but not the injured or the blind.
It has been about the ones who have suffered from abuse.
When we finally catch the culprits we turn around and turn them loose.
What kind of message are we sending to the abusers of the world .
If we do not punish severely for hurting little boys and girls.
I lay awake and try to figure just what they think they have to gain.
From beating up on little children and for causing so much pain.
I will never understand it and I am thanking god for that.
I cannot picture how they do it or just where their head is at.
I have never been a parent but don’t you dare hand me that crap.
But I once was a child and knew a punch was not a slap.
Thank you mom and dad for the intelligence that you taught.
It does not matter for how much money all those lessons can’t be bought.

This is a powerful entry that speaks of so much pain that innocent little ones endure every day. As a survivor of this kind of abuse I agree with your words here. You are one of the lucky ones to have had loving parents. It is so difficult to comprehend how any parent or adult can even look at a child as someone to harm. Thanks for being one of the voices for those who do not have one. Blessings,Patty

Excellent piece that flows with raw emotions and tugs at the heart. Child abuse must end!
I love the following...
"When we finally catch the culprits we turn around and turn them loose. What kind of message are we sending to the abusers of the world .If we do not punish severely for hurting little boys and girls."
Statements that are profoundly true!
Wish you the best of luck in the contest
Peace
