To Capture

Words have little to do with primitive passions,
not enough expression when it comes to desire,
too small amount of words to describe love,
and yet we write hoping to capture life's delight.

To capture the monster that awakens during dark nights,
and attempts to claw its’ way out of your gut,
in need of the most basic carnal desire
or perhaps something so much higher.

To capture the ecstasy of a first kiss
imprint it on a blank sheet
and forever see your love’s eyes,
staring back from the black ink.

To capture the moon’s shine on an upturned face,
the fire inside nourished by the wind,
the rapture in the howl at moon
and the nothingness that follows.

Author notes

"I can't shake this little feeling."

Oh, this was refreshing. It made me look at writing poetry and words in general in a different perspective. Capturing the moment or event or feeling is the basic idea we are trying to accomplish in any piece that is written. Any words ANYWHERE are to portray an image. I loved the third stanza.. And it's so true.. almost as if we try to perfect the feeling/event to the tee with every descriptive word we can think of.. to remember EXACTLY how we were feeling at that very moment.. live vicariously through the words almost. Wow. I really liked this piece. Thank you for entering.
