Be Strong

Such a dark world full of torturing shadows and distasteful tongues
seemingly love to torment and distress the pure souls in life
and many are only children, young and untainted.

I am not good with words but I know how I feel,
such characters so beautiful and strong like angels so chaste
and yet they are hurt for no reason, just for the feeling of power
so unchanging, their bully will never change.

Torturous it is and brings tears to the eyes
to hear of how many get hurt and killed each year
from what goes on behind closed doors
and no one seems to notice,
and if they do, the don't or cannot do anything to help.

Justice system? What Justice system.
So weak, ready to crumble under a touch,
unknowing and turning a blind eye to the darkness.
No good does it do.

I turn away from my own dark shadows of victimisation,
a butt of a joke, a weak punch bag to a bully,
I have become stronger, a better person out of this
and I will show them that I won't be beaten.

I will fight them to the end,
even if it means my demise;
so many fear in the dark and cannot speak out,
cannot reach out and find a helping hand...

Be strong like the concrete angel,
able to stand in the midst of pain and abuse
and able to put a smile on her face
despite all that she had to suffer.

Be strong.

Author notes

oh my word!!! This is rubbiiiiiiiiiiiiish but yeah whatever. I LOVE this song. It's so beautiful and so sad. Made my mum cry as she is a survivor of terribly abuse. I want to be strong like my mother and like that girl, that concrete angel and like all those concrete angels in the world.

This is a heartfelt write that speaks out for all victims of abuse. The thing that saddens me though is that I think of the concrete as a suit of armour that the victim places around her so she cannot be hurt again. Many of us victims of abuse build this suit, and it takes years of hard work and introspection to slowly rebuild trust and strip that armour. The problem with the suit is that though it helps keep the bad away, it also keeps the good from getting in. Anyway, you did a wonderful job with this and it is apparent that you are also a very strong person. Blessings, Patty

  • i agree. how anyone could abuse a child is beyond my comprehension. thanks goodness jehovah takes notice, he won't let these horrible deeds go unpunished!

Of course you're strong you crazy bimbo. Lots of people admire you for that fortitude of yours and you know it.

And as for the poem, there ARE NO rubbish tributes to a subject like this.
