Our Love-The Dance

Though most days I work ardently
so others can be fun,
I'm always glad there's you with me
'cause  honey, you're the one.

The one who waltzes in this place
that only can be bound
by a heart that fills the space
no one has ever found.

No other taps their feet along
life's long and winding way
or sings to me a snappy song
throughout my silent day.

Though unlike Ginger Rogers
along side Fred Astaire,
We'll be the swifter dodgers
And make a better pair.

So, twitch that nose that makes me smile-
let's do the hoochie-coo,
my love will dance an extra mile,
as long as it's with you!

This has a very antique feel to it, in a good way. A sweet love poem that relies on memory rather than sappy images.
    Well penned.

WOW, this is simply wonderful. I love how everything just flows together so wonderfuly. Just WOW... I love the lines:
    Though we're no Ginger Rogers
    along side Fred Astaire,
    We'll be the swifter dodgers
    And make a better pair.
Most people my age haven't the slitest clue as to who they are. Sad huh? I think so. But I truly do think that this is a wonderful peice written with much thought and planning. Fantastic job. Thank you so much for sharing your words and experiences with all of us here.

I especially liked the last two lines of the middle stanza, more than imagery, a feeling in your gut! Very nice and I hope it does you well in the contest

Almost sounds like a song as I read it. Left me with one of those innocent little smiles. I need more of these smiles. One little motion so unique to someone we love, can be everything, especially when they are gone and we see someone else make a similar motion. Don't mean to go sad on you. Peace & Love. ET
