Everyone Here is Mad

Cheshire cats that always grin
Love to play games full of sin

Lurking in back alleyways
To lure their victims into a daze

Leading them through a tiny door
Into a world of colors galore

Where hookah tubes exhale smokey rainbow streams
& giant mushrooms mute their wretched screams

Weaving through a garden of hearts
Their journey will end before it even starts

At the end of the maze awaits the queen
Who's far from making the beauty scene

Her majesty screeches "Off with their heads!"
& their decapitated bodies fall dead

Author notes

This is one of two poems that are now property of Metro Arts that I wrote during the summer apprenticeship with the company. The poem was submitted into a chapbook which we sold at the final showcase July 10th 2008. The chapbook is titled "Beyond Wonderland" & all the poems in the book are somehow tied into & based around Louis Carroll's "Alice In Wonderland" - usually leaning more towards the demented side of the story...
