The apple that fell from a tree.

Love
A battle that has lasted the ages.

The ever lasting concept of time
brings meterorites crashing into
the atmosphere, that barrier
we create to keep ourselves
safe within the confinement
of our special little dome.

To protect ourselves from
the uncontrolable factors,
that gravity that pulls
a car hurtling irrepressibly
towards the unknown - not known; not within the range of one's knowledge,
                      experience, or understanding; strange; unfamiliar.

The need for self preservation -preservation of oneself from harm or destruction.
we have within us. Even before
a breath of life is taken.
So to go against this,
this primal animalistic
urge to avoid hurt - to affect adversely; harm
must bring some sense of fear - a specific instance of or propensity for such a
                                feeling
to even the strongest person.

What i have learnt from love
for the such experiences
i have been lucky enough to
have had.
Love is why we put up our barriers
because it holds this unknown factor
that scares us and if we hold back
our every instinct just because
of the one most powerful instinct we
have inside us tells us no.
Then we aren't doing right by ourselves.
The reason why love makes us all feel
like we're 7 years old again
is that only a 7 year old
see's the magic in sitting
in a go cart zooming down a monsterous hill
faster that the one hit wonders
of his or her's era and has
the power to let go, take
the foot of the breaks, lean back
and let the uncontrollable happen.

Hm, and interesting piece I will admit.
I think this could be edited as some
parts are ambiguous, over written and
    frankly extraneous. Consider some
    editing, altering, and revising,
and the potential of this piece
    will become more obvious.

    Nicely penned.

Hmmmmm...I like this, a lot..It seems to become younger as you go along, going from breaking the flow with definitions of unsessary clarification to just letting the words and meanings be what they will...oh, to be 7 again...

i agree...i think whats so sucky about teenagers and love because i'm 16...is that we look at adults and we think, wow we're supposed to be so uptight and give up fun. and your last lines

just made me think...so i'm not the only one that thinks that way. i know so many people that are so afraid to be in love because they're afraid that they will lose themselves in it...they don't just live in the moment of fun and corny jokes and the whole closeness that comes with love ya know...?

i really liked this ^__^it was pretty lol as you can tell...it just made me think a lot

This is an interesting and unique poem here. It is so true that a child can see the magic and newness in the simplest of things. When we fall in love we tend to let our guard down and become more open and trusting. We then, once again, find the joy in the small stuff. This write is a great reminder that we all should just let go and let it be. Nice! Blessings, Patty
