Streetlights (2)

As I fell into her eyes,
at once I felt as though
I had lost every feeling
I ever had.

And my tears were sharpened
by the exact incision
of your laughter.

And my fears were sharpened
by the same blade
I use to speak.

In this cold, empty room of stone,
I walk past the darkest church pews...
and I float to touch the mirror at the very front.

I go here sometimes--somewhere deep inside my mind.

She is there and she turns to face me
in the middle of the road.
It is nighttime, and we only see
because the streetlight allows us.

"People change," she said
with a smile and wet eyes.

That means so many things right now.
