I miss the comfort of yesterday
cool morning air carried the sea
to me
miles inland
but with closed eyes I was there.
Wrapped in remembered warmth,
lunch eaten in sunshine falling
like daisy petals bright and curling.
Time spent with life
things growing in the garden
fire red radishes
and clustered garnet berries
plump and sweet.
Evening repast with soft company
tom kha soup and vegetables
in peanut sauce.
It was a good day
and now that it’s done, I know
I shall think back on it
wishing for another hour
with familiar
sights and sounds and scents,
smiling.

What wonderful memories to have, and how great to know the comfort they can give. To look back on the past with peaceful, happy feelings, no "what if", no regret. Your images are delightful and obviously specific to this particular memory, yet the reader only needs to close their eyes to picture their own. Beautiful!

This created such a beautiful image in my mind as I read it. I could feel the cool air and the warmth of the sun.
I love the description of the garden!
A very enjoyable read...well written!
Best of wishes in the contest!

You know, this is one of the reasons I treasure having joined this site. Of all the many great works that I've read, this one definitely makes the list. ^-^
Your descriptions were so vivid, I could close my eyes and envision my own similar utopia...it was quite nice, actually.
Time truly is precious...and spending it in such a way to where, through memories, we can revisit and redo things we enjoy makes every second worthwhile.
Excellent work. Keep up the good work, and good luck in the contest! ^.^

I am honored you entered my contest
It's been a while.
I absolutely love this. It is exactly what I was looking for in this contest. The little details are all so perfect, I can actually picture myself there (or watching you there). Your imagery is quite vivid and really reaches out to the reader in a way that usually only pictures and paintings can.
I feel the sunshine kissing our faces, bringing out freckles on my nose. I taste the sea in the air, smell the radishes and vegetables in the garden.
Thank you for sharing this! It's wonderful and perfect! -

mmmm I have never heard of that soup but it sounds delicious I want to have some now, your imagery always does that to me, the way you can make your words turn into other things, scents, flavors, visions, its amazing. I miss yesterday too, curled up with my love held close not pushed away, baby sleeping in my arms pulled close to my chest, love surging through all of me , now empty channels remain, like waterlines all dried up. where is the love? the kisses and closeness, all turned into ash and death, pain and torment. yes I miss yesterday very much, I miss ignorance, not knowing the pain that was going on all around me
Great poem k-9
