In the present, he lays alone in the bed
Mustering times left far behind
Eyes shut to REM sleep
Eyebrows frowning scared
Dreams come to life
Smoke filled clouds hover above
Through transparent swaying air
Shine shadows of awaiting members of guilt
Dripping in flesh & blood on bare skins
Unsure of what comes now
Past lives in present
Present can’t find way to the future
Staring eyes echo unheard questions
Awaiting patiently for the unsolved answers
Don’t go! He shouts aloud in silence
But lady dressed in bare skin & bones
Resigns from the residence
With the hope to never find peace
...Life of a special victims unit cop
Lives every breath even in a dream until justice not found

BRILLIANT
This is exactly the kind of verse I have been searching for! "Lives every breath in a dream until justice not found." How true! Poor cop! Tortured, even in sleep, by victims of crimes he hasn't solved. Wonderful imagery. Thank you for entering and best wishes.
