To Be Ninety

Done traveled roads he won't go down again
Stood in the midst of great and lesser men
Was young and foolish one time in his life
That is till he took on a gorgeous wife

Fine gifts are their three daughters and two sons
With God in front they've been such favored ones
His heart swells with great pride of what he's viewed
To me he's practiced kindness, never rude

His life moves with eternal, debt's been paid
From eldest to the baby, future's made
He smiles at all the memories he holds
Glad every generation's in the fold

The balance of his time already set
He's ninety years of age and has years yet

'happy is the man that has his quiver full of them (children)..."
~Psalms 127: 5

Author notes

We had a wonderful dinner and gathering after Church Sunday for my father-in-law . John Jackson has been just like my own dad since I married Ray, (35 years ago)and especially after my own father passed. I love him dearly and gave these words to him at the dinner party. He and my father were 2 1/2 months apart in age. My dad was born on May 8, 1918.

Happy Birthday Dad - Born July 16, 1918

WE Love You Dearly!

This made me think of how much I miss my own father (God rest his soul) and how large a debt I owe to my soon to be ex-wife's parents. Everything I was, am or ever will be I owe to that generation.

    Sincerely,
    Leo Long

When life is good to you

Often our losses are replace to fill the gap to pull us through. My father in law was a treasure. I sure miss the man dearly...mac
