How can I explain to you,
the way it rots inside,
everything feels broken-
as though I've swallowed shards of glass.
I want you to take me,
I want you to lead me beyond this place.
I want to be free of these barbed wire bonds,
I want to be somewhere else.
My dreams comfort here,
deep beneath the ground-
darkness swallows all tears,
will I die alone?
I want the sun to fall upon my eyes,
I want the world beyond these chains,
I want a hand to take me,
away from all my pain.
Will things be better in the end,
will things stop turning gray?
Can I ever make things the way they were,
if yesterday has long since past?
I want you to take me,

not a bad take on the song. i think the poem could use just a few minor touches to work out some little kinks in the flow. other than that, its a good write. thanks for entering and good luck
