I knew I should leave it alone
Now for my wrong I must atone.
The Master said “just leave it be”
But temptation made me go and see.
That eerie flame just called to me
As if it wanted to be free.
How could I know it wasn’t fire,
But the manifestation of my desire ?
Oft has the master said to me
“Control your curiosity”!
Now like unto the silly cat
Curiosity bit me back!
I tried to touch the wicked “flame”,
It felt like it was just a game.
And now my fingertip is black,
I wonder – will my nail grow back?
