Xbox never was happiness
and dreams are crushed by sitting still.
What were your dreams?
Do you know?
Did you have any
back in the day
when you sported the bubble skirt
or parachute pants;
when life was still easily divided
between what your parents said was
right and wrong.
Before apathy and slothfulness
became our generational theme.
Before our pride kept us
from taking that minimum wage job
to make ends meet.
Before lust, gluttony and greed consumed us.
Before our anger burned
at the unfair hand dealt us.
Before the jealousy over
what our best friend has
made us curse her good fortune.
What is left?
We are a cursed generation.
Doomed to to watch, lazily,
as our children drift
alone
because we don't have the time.
We have to beat the last level
of Halo 3
before our days have grown too long
and we start to act and feel and look
like our parents.
Author notes
I will write a poem more specific to sloth in another couple of days!

kewl, I was in that contest too. Congrats on your bronze. This is a very good example for that sin, and when I was younger was definately guilty. I''m proud to say I've filled my days since with better activities. Thanks for sharing. UNT

Well.... I really like this one, actually, usually i like it if the sentence is either all the way to the end of the line or split in half... not split in five different areas. But really, i love this one actually. It flows nicely, and it is SO true. I'm 14 and always on the computer. i swear to my mom that i have nothing else to do!
but that's definatly not true. But anyway, I love this one and good luck! (BTW: this might be open longer than july 31 since there's only 3 entries so far, so be prepared to wait before I judge it) thanks again, and good luck!
