Ghost of the Dark Sea

Dedicated to lovers of wistful reflection!


She stands wistfully gazing out to sea,
A maiden of times gone by you see,
Her long dark hair blowing in the breeze,
Her long silken robes in death a freeze.

The dark shore beckons her toward the water,
Once she was someones earthbound daughter,
Her beauty cannot be seen in the picture,
But all the same her presence doth capture.

The ghost that haunts the darkened shore,
Beckoning lost sailors yet some more,
Might they see her and try to anchor,
But run aground and into spirit enter?

The darkened cobalt skies and sea,
Ebbing tides and inner loneliness be,
Deep within her soul implanted,
The life that once she had been granted.

Oh lady of the sea now ghostly,
Only the waves can hear your voice mostly,
Splashing up on your greying ghostly robes,
The wetness bathing your unrested soul which probes....

Probes for answers deep within,
Immortality now the price of your earthly sin,
But where will you wander beyond the sea,
Will you take me with you let me see?

Lady of the ghostly shore,
Once again you beckon some more,
Leading me in to drown from life,
You that was my new friends wife.

Such an eerie ambiance you create,
In the absence of life, such is your fate,
Bewitched by the afterlife you now know,
As the oceans waves just come and go.

Flowing on to a new incarnation,
Will that be your souls salvation?
Or will you remain unrested on the sultry shore,
Eternally dwelling and seducing sailors some more?

This is a competition entry for the
Picture Prompt Contest:

The competition organizer wanted: "sad, brooding, death,

love, eerie, spooky….. Get the ideal"? (Quote).

The picture depicts a lady with long dark flowing
hari and a wispy gray ghostly dress with her back to
the viewer of the picture, and looking out to see.
The sky is dark and bluey and the shore is also,
the sea is caressing the shore, its very magical.
