Oh dear! It's half past ten,
I'm running dreadfully late again.
Through the bush and past the tree,
to the stream gurgling with glee.
I jump for my life
quickest route for a wife
mating season's out,
time to scrounge about!
To my surprise
I had to compromise
my preferred choice
to what made me cringe, and not rejoice
The silliest thing
to take the short road;
you might find yourself
on top of a toad!!!
Take my advice,
you will pay the price.
Not getting the worth of your dime
when you aren't right on time

Ha! Interesting version here.

I encourage you to go through and just look at where punctuation and appropriate use of capital letters is warranted. (It makes for an easier read, ultimately). Also, apostrophies are needed in your contractions (ie: mating seasons should be mating season's).
Anyhow, I appreciate your amusing tale here.
Thanks for entering this contest, and very best of luck.
