This kingdom I shall protect
from the darkness that pervades,
for I am truth of the realm
to annihilate deceit.
The sword of my fidelity
held in constant alert,
for the forces that crawl beneath
would blast this peace asunder.
The beacon of hope
was lit eons ago,
a fervent reminder
of battles lost and won.
The skulls of the lost
cry out in their pain,
as ravens of death
circle in slow conquest.
But I have the power of the light
with the faith of my sabre
and until the cries cease their painful strains
these emblems of sovereignity
are emblazoned with pride.

ooooh, this is fantastic! I absolutely love the way you've written on the picture prompt. There is such strength and determination that flows from your words, they make me want to go out and battle demons and things! I especially love your final stanza...an excellent closing of the poem.
Thanks for sharing this, and taking the time to enter my contest,
Luck. -
