Waterlogged (Limerick Chain)

There was a young frog cruised the streams
Whose ambitions amounted to dreams
He painted himself yellow
Proof he's a cheery fellow
And ignores his passenger's screams

The mouse, whose name was Rasputin
Had a lifestyle some called "high falutin"
He had to run for his life
When discovered by his wife
It was not tadpoles, but blanks he was shootin'

The moral has to do with men's pride
Refusing to 'fess up to their bride
While she wants lots of kids
Seems that they won't be his
The result leaves her fit to be tied

Very good, these made me laugh. I have written some limericks, but mine were rubbish! Mind you, some of Lear's weren't that good. It looks such a deceptively easy form but it's not easy to do well. I keep wanting to rhyme things with bucket. Very good.

Thank you. I am glad you liked this. I like to rewrite nursery rhymes, but as you said, they tend to rhyme with luck or bucket. Drove my mom crazy.

Ha ha ha ~ yes! I like this one! Slick humour in limerick form.

Good, punchy meter and a feisty tale well told.

LOL...thanks for entering this contest, and very best of luck.
