You grew up before my eyes,
And yet I only just realize.
Your now able to tie your shoes and ride a bike,
Finally distinguishing left from right.
Eleven years went by like nothing I've ever known,
Now slightly brown hair emerges where baby blond once shone.
eyes like the sky, shine in new found wonder,
Taking in each lighting strike, each powerful boom of thunder.
Its hard not to step in, when others push you down,
Wanting to protect you, from every wrong sound.
I don't like it, not at all,
do not enjoy watching you fall.
This world is cruel, and hate-filled,
If you wonder to far, how can I chase away your fears?
Sky light eyes collide with pained orbs, and I can only cry,
Because the innocence I see, is meant to only die.
Author notes
option #2, This is about my little brother basically. He just turned eleven and the whole poem is about him going out into the real world where I can't always protect him anymore.
