Midsummer Day's Dream

Missing image

.

~~~
today I bit into an apple
and tasted autumn on my mind
where crisp mornings and fading days
betray winter, not far behind
~~~

Author notes

I may be a native, but I can't handle the summer heat here in southern California! I need an escape!

    You create a beautiful image of the seasons changing and in so few words! I find that inspirational.

    In the land that never rains,
    let it drizzle a bit so some can unwind.
    Let some cool winds break in from the plains
    lest the breaking comes from my behind.

    Jeez... You guys are catching it too huh? Want some ice tea?

    Wonderful write, sis.

    I love this!! I feel the exact same way. I am a native Texan, but this heat over 100 degrees everyday is just driving me up a wall and making me dream of snow and gray mornings where I snuggle down in a blanket and read a good book.

    This was so beautiful, short and concise.. So many images packed into just a handful of lines. Loved the apple...

      The hot weather is terrible, isn't it?! I've lived here my entire life, and I tell people I've never acclimated to the climate...lol! I'm positive I'm supposed to be somewhere green and cool.
      Thank you for your kind comments on the poem. I, too, long for those gray mornings...no snow in my neck of the woods though...unfortunately! I'm excited just to get a bit of rain!
      And the apple? Really happened. It was a nice moment.
