propaganda..

My mind is a weapon of mass deduction,
my heart the quintessence of collective soul.
Fighting the forces of mass corruption,
I am fighting the forces of thought control.
Spoon fed liars on every station,
broadcasting fear across our nation..
Can you see the correlation between global gluttony and foreign relations
gunned down in wars of desperation?
But now the war on peace has spread.
It roams our streets, sleeps in our beds.
It feeds on our anxiety,
pulls the plug on our sobriety...
Of course we're all the same round here,
but what happened to variety?!
Labelled "impropriety", our reactions to society are more than misplaced piety,
they are reflections of our souls!
A pill for me and one for you,
a chemical to see you through.
Your days and nights are restless due to inner war zones,
Gazing through the looking glass of me and you.
What is done we can undo!
All our daily battles fought,
not hand to hand but thought to thought.
The choice is ours to stop the tide.
Turn the tables on fear and pride.
It's all or none, this much I know,
if we're to end this horror show.
No hell beneath nor god above could teach us more of pain and love...

powerful! you are able to express the horror then find the creative will to overcome.....brava!

  • Mind blowing.

You speak the truth, the , whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you god. In my eyes what you have written here is the technical definition of poetry, which is or SHOULD BE the truth. Loving it J.

we can only speak of those truths we know...it astounds me that the world has not yet woken up. i mean..we all "know" what's going on..we all "know" that there's a huge money-fuelled powerplay that runs night and day despite our personal oppositions..we "know" these things, and yet for some reason we allow them to perpetuate? wtf?!...i've been waiting for you to find this one..i knew you'd appreciate it..

Ah, you hand out the signs, I'll just start the peace rally while you do.

Yeah, the older I get the more I see shifts in political and social philosophy. If seems to be a cyclical thing, right now we're drowning in the high tide of ignorance and conformity. It'll change...eventually.

Until then, we watch in horror as minds become mush with that sameness and fear of individuality. It's a conservative age...liberal thought lies dormant.

This is definitely a powerful write, although techncially you may want to rearrange some of your very lengthy lines. I do like the way you create immediate impact with 'my mind is a weapon of mass deduction' as it certainly plays with the reader who probably expects destruction - but then that'd fall into cliche and they're banned!! Great use of imagery throughout and effective use of internal rhyme. I'd really like to see where you might take this. Thanks for sharing and the sense of anger blazes through.

in the first line did you mean mass destruction?
    just wondering
    i really really like this.
it's very frustrated and you wrote it well.

Hell yeah! There is no possible way this poem could be better. I love how the more agitated the tone of the poem, the more intense, the more it rhymes. Like there are mini-protests, complete with slogans and signs being waved, inserted throughout.

Favorite line:"My heart the quintessence of collective soul." My favorite section of Elementary Psych was talking about Jung, archetypes, and the interconnectedness of mankind.

You rock my face off. It's a little uncomfortable, but I think I like it.
