Darkness.
The mysterious, obscure
being that lies controlled under
singular beams of light.
A recluse for the unspoken,
the unacknowledged, the unknown.
A seething heaven of nightmares,
expanding hopelessly outward,
engulfing the succulent youthful flowers
that sway shamelessly in a field of dreams,
turning their fragile petals into ash
that deteriorate as the darkness
inhales back the breath of death.
Darkness.
A haven of secrets,
of thoughts,
of jaded jealousy
and regrets
that swarm, that infest
that infect the inner walls of the mind.
Their plague seeps through the soft,
submissive tissues
and penetrates into the bones,
soaking deep into the marrow of ones body.
This abysmal sickness
exudes Darkness
violating, decimating
the whole body to weaken it
before the final offensive.
As the Darkness thrusts its maniacal
hands around the still throbbing,
bloody mass of an organ,
a beam of light straight from the heart
burns those fiendish fingers and restores order.
Darkness.
The vanquished,
an expansive enemy
cruel with trickery
and slick with sweet poison,
conquered by a singular beam of light,
of hope, of optimism.
As the body mends its wounds,
the beam of light glistens in the wake of
destruction, shining life back
and restoring hope to what was
once, inhaled to ashes.
This bastion of freedom
makes the body stronger,
sewing tight the lacerations
with a resilience less naïve
in the face of the villainous Darkness.
