In pictures I will never send
The rain reaches out, but cracks the ends
Where these windows begin
As I peer through the tinted glass...again
My fingertips pressed, flattened
This winter is so empty, I'd like to think it never happened
The way the carriages sound on the cobblestones
Remind me of home, of a place I thought I belonged
Oh, the beauty that once was, is gone.
You left me as quick as the river froze
As quick as a sparrow falls from the sky
And cries as he falls, plummets, and dies...
If I could take this jagged edge, this blazing memory
And light the way, I'm sure I could find a way to bleed rain
From every edge of my soul, as it peels away, and is thrust into the arms of yesterday.
And as simply as these notes climb the scale
I grab the last pieces of a time, I thought was gone as well...
Well past the lines, lies a truth seeping unto forever
That the raindrops are pieces of a bleeding song...
A symphony of cadences and trills of laughter.
What'd ya think?

The part that stays with me the most is,
You left me as quick as the river froze
As quick as a sparrow falls from the sky
And cries as he falls, plummets, and dies...
...very well written, but sad, and the influence notes in the preview explain a lot.
