I laugh in vain and in sheer frustration, my kids want to know why must we all have rules?
What makes civilization far more desirable than maintaining savage or carnal gratifications without a conscience?
Maintaining decorum for another's sake is all fine and good, but what happens when the line is finally crossed?
What happens if nobody sees? Are you not guilty of the crime if nobody see'd ya do it?
"It wasn't my fault. I was jes sittin here minding my own busy-ness when suddenly this brand new feeling came over me that whatever it is I can be held accountable for is all someone else's fault. It wasn't a nice feeling either. I think it's called feeling guilty."
Yep.
I hear it all the time between my little girls.
It's all "Her". . .
The difference between doing something that is right and doing something for it's positive moral sake is scarcely an easy choice to make, and hind sight is 20-20.
Just ask the criminal who'd do it different the next time he/she gets out, and hugs his/her child/ren for the first time since whenever, and hopes to Heaven/Tara and/or God/Goddess above/inside, his/her child/ren learns from his/her mistake/s.
Author notes
It's more a rant than a poem. It's been quite a long time since I've attempted.
Peace.
