Guitar strings pinched tightly
quiver as a songbird warble.
Soothing sweetness changes to
throbbing pulse virbration on stage.
Groupies inhale the excitement as
the stratocaster cries to the crowd.
They scream and weave their bodies
dancing on air. His fender takes its final
gasps as it plummets to the floor.
The poet burns like a candle consumed on
alcohol and drugs. Jimi Hendrix's left hand
caressed strings leaving a legacy unclaimed,
while youthful gyrations coax "Purple Haze".
If you could ride the wind, breath the fire,
and drink the earth as a storm in rememberance.

Outstanding
A great take on the prompt. I am a huge Hendrix fan- I have got all of his albumns. You go from strength to strength. This poem is a great reflection on Jimmy's ability to shine on stage and his raw talent and energy. Best of luck in the contest- I think this poem could do well.

a good piece of poetry, ah hendrix - a true master of his craft, shame he burnt out way too quickly due to all of the excesses that took hold on him when he was not playing, mind you saying that, he was often off his head whilst playing.
