Within your arms I felt so safe
as you whispered such loving words,
truly an amazing time
for finally love occurred.
Such sweet loving through the day
and right on through the night,
as flames kept burning higher
reaching heavenly delights.
I pledged myself wholly to you
my trust in you was so complete,
for never have I felt this way
walls built around my heart you did defeat.
But suddenly you'd sneak away
saying you'd be back real soon,
like you were hiding something
like a song that's out of tune.
Uneasiness crept within my soul
as I told myself it didn't matter,
but when she phoned me up that day
my heart again did shatter.
Such grief swept over me
in endless stormy waves,
as now those walls I build again
around this heart so grave.
Your love was false I know that now
take it back it has no price,
this deceit you wove around my soul
was just a quick roll of life's dice.

Always seesm to be the way, when you get close to them they pull away and want no love, they should've never said it in the first place, so then they'd never have to take it back.
-
Such deceit is so painful but your last stanza shows we do have the strength to carry on. So powerful.

I can certainly relate to this!! It's painful... but it happens so often! You took "take it back" in a fantastic direction here hun!

Your words are so relatable. The pain can be felt in your write.
Best of luck in the contest.
