I hide from my transgressions
knowing I've done wrong,
with feelings that at these dark times
in God's grace I don't belong.
I've used free will unwisely
and there's really no excuse,
the devil tinkers from behind
and lets his minions loose.
Yet I know God's grace protects me
from that first breath into my soul,
for His light is so much stronger
and His heaven is my goal.
Every time that darkness threatens
my soul will bring me right on back,
this journey through life's tangled web
and evil's foul attacks.
So many times He forgives me
for He truly knows the score,
I feel His strength within my soul
and His mercy I implore.
