Seems I always
buy a ticket
for the merry-go-round
even though
my arms are too short
to grasp the brass ring
without falling from my painted pony

Wonderful
Very creative and well expressed. So very well done. Best of luck in the contest.

Interesting contemplation. If the brass ring is not to be had, one promoted purpose of the circular ride, (ending where you began) is nullified.
Since you persist in ticket purchases, perhaps your personal enjoyment is found in some other feature of the ride? The close-up of beautiful and fantastic animals in their brilliant colors and bejewelled harnesses or the pleasure of the company of enjoyed companions?
Beautiful inclusion of all my highlights and memory triggers in this brief write..."Carousel," "ticket," "merry-go-round," "brass ring," and "painted pony."
Thank you for a bright field trip to those memories!

So Cute
This is just precious. The good old merry-go-round. Those special childhood memories are ever so sweet, at least these ones. Thank you for sharing with me.
Much Love
