Who knows what contest will can win?
The fire reads praise like finer things,
Smoke scoffs, 'is I who claims the sky.'
Fire: 'without me you would surely die.'
'but I show people where you are,
they would never know;
they are so far.'
Fire ran along the ground
burned brush and everything he found
'I keep up.'
'You follow me.'
'I signal to all and far away...'
Fire jumped into a stream and then
extinguished all his burning flames.
'I won,' said fire and slowly laughed
as smoke just blew away at last.

I really like how you personified, the elements...Well done C.

I'll have to think about this one. Fire and smoke both come from the same source. I'm not sure if that is a profound thing to say or not. Anyway this piece is very original and interesting to read.
Good luck in the contest.

I like this conversation of nature, as like I suppose. There's no smoke without fire.
Nice little write,
