Immediately following lunch
she flagged me over to come sit
"look me in the eyes"
she said
I did
"You've got to understand
Mother Rapper
I am an angel in Heaven
but when I'm on Earth
I'm a robot
You've got to understand"
I understood
as she ran off bubbling
skipping happily
into her own world
oblivious as to why
she was even in the Theatre
Author notes
The words in quotations are actually the words of Oni Mosley-Stovall, one of my seven year old Summer Campers. Everyone in the entire building knew Oni. She made herself known through her wandering, and what some might call, her 'odd realities'.
While the play was going on yesterday evening, Oni lost herself in the dressing room. I peeked my head in not expecting to find anyone (they all should have been on stage), she answers in a peculiar voice; "yessss". When she stepped from behind the dressing partitions, she had on several costumes at once. LOL
The makings of a great performance artist happened right before my eyes. Oni is a deep child. Her depth is cosmic!
Please tell me what you think

oh how beautiful, precious words from a precious child, her very sentiments are my arguments sometimes when I want to convince myself to give up life here on earth, why would I want to stay here and go through motions when I could be home in heaven living how God intended, being happy being in love feeling no pain, at the same time it makes me just want to bring my heaven down on earth, touch the life of a child, I have a daughter I want to live to hear her amazing thoughts and shape her ride through this life how beautiful. I loved this poem

wow... very odd and extremely intriguing. for a child to comprehend the condition of her body as vessel. her spirit the control center for the organic "machine"....that's really something else. and the way she expressed that idea...was unique and touching. i'm glad you wrote it down. i'd like to hear a conversation between you two in about 12 years or so...discussing this poem... that would be interesting. thanks for givin us a peek into your life ma. nice

Perhaps her 'odd realities' are a God given gift for acting. Who knows when the next Shirley Temple may appear. It's so good to read your work again my friend.

Oni is and possesses a rare and special gift. Her odd realities are more in tuned with reality than some may think. That you "get" her proves that. So precious is the heart that is pure! I love how that just oozed right through the screen to me. It sounds like you are having the time of your life!!

I think people at their oddest
Are often at their best. It is like the best of them we never knew is saying Hi. We can know them even better and remember the longer and truely better...mac

That is one deep little girl, she is definitely going to be somebody one day! This is a wonderful story wrapped in a brilliant poem. I liked the use of "seeing" as understanding.

Dear Renee,
It is a rare blessing to encounter a youngster who shows every budding prospect of being 'different' in this world where the average is rather mediocre.
Applause, love and hugs, XXX Hugh.

You understand "Oni" as well...
It is a "rare blessing" Hugh, as is the blessing of friendships forever, far and near!
God Bless You & Yours Always ♥
