Brief Encounters
Now and then a door opens allowing we mortals a glimpse of immortality brief though it may be.
Slowly almost imperceptibly we leave the crudity of our earthly state behind us and enter the ethereal world from whence we originated
Here family and friends greet one another
They who have journeyed on ahead have shed the years
Leaving behind their imperfections and gnarled bodies
And seem indeed to have found the fabled fountain of youth
Here in this Eden colours take on a whole new meaning
So vibrant and alive are they.
Alas all to soon our brief sojourn ends and once more we don our Mortal coils with all of our defects and imperfections
And once more take up the challenge of mortality.
Please tell me what you think

Outstanding use of metaphor...
I really admire this surreal examination of mortality and immortality... You portray an exceptionally well-grounded acceptance of the facts of life and death, as well as that third spiritual element that Plato talked about, and which Homer described as the third force which connects the opposing forces together. Great work!!!
