you have such an
ordinary face
and i trace its
normal cheeks
thinking I might find
art
or even paint
beneath a chin
vacant of symphonies
or unicorns
your mustache is tuneless
your eyes plain and brown
and you frown
like any man when we run out of
toilet paper
clean towels
or a chance encounter
with the bank teller
there is nothing stellar
in the way you walk
on my eggshells
or chop onions
your hands reek
of the simple
moving neither to open doors
or save billions of people
you squint
at the five o’clock news
in unfamiliar stores
or when others
are happy to see you
you are a gravedigger
in love with shoveling
with ruts
with burying useless things
like fathers and grandmothers
and yes
sometimes even
me
and i can still hear
your music
snipping the dark
into confetti
knitting pity
into a shroud
you shrug onto
shoulders grieving
that they belong to
someone like
you
so mumbling like a plant
you ant your way
to bed
and lie cement
rock fingers
rolling over my palm
as if my pulse
could speak to you
about more than just
bread
the dead
and castles
crumbling
and i stare up
at your ordinary face
your normal cheeks
your human need
and beneath your simple chin
i hear
art
painting

The definition of love: You stay for these kinds of moments...even when you want to strangle them before and after the moment passes. lol

that anonymous feature is pretty useless when reading something so distinct. pretty/simple words + startling images + fun little rhymes + delicious food = onerios. this was...fucking good

-
-
Oh crap...you're right! It DID have food in this!
LMAO!!
Oh jezz...maybe I subconsciously want to be a cook rather than a poet...too bad I burn water though...lol
Thank you, precious!

the definition of love
or another definition of love
the long chain-sighing between brief moments
of not thinking
I think
ashes and burn marks left from sparkles
until the time dies again
another moment

There is nothing ordinary about this piece. Simple words about a simple man but it is your man and you have woven the magic of knowing someone so well. Juls

Takes her piece and slinks off into a corner!! lol
Seriously I was fascinated by this from the very first line. To know someone this well and paint them as such is a beautiful thing, ordinary? No, not ordinary just damn beautiful!

I stay for the moments that have paychecks attached to them. But yeah, I get what you mean

And you couldn't just leave me to a contest by myself could you? You had to come and rain on my parade with purdy talk about facial hair and unicorns, didn't you? Bitch.

Shit...like you have room to talk.
Besides you already got this one in the bag...lol. I'm just doing this cause I know it irritates the hell outta ya.
Gotta get my kicks somehow...lord knows I'm bored as cow chewing on its same cud over and over again.

Thank you so much for your wonderful comment. It's just an ordinary piece about the ordinary days of my relationship in the beginning. Thank goddess, he's over those moments now! lol
