Wisps of faith

Whiffs of air rolling on dry soul
cooling tears on bosom
eyes tired of midnight cascade,
flashes of hurt bolted
into silent stream of warm drops
thrashing loudly in soul.

Twittering dawn pours in yellow light,
prayers of night rehearsed,
a calm with that air pouring in
nestles in heart heavy
hope still sprouts from cracked barren land
determined to flourish.

Author notes

It is called Ballad Measure (or sometimes English Hymn Measure).
it is in alternating iambic tetrameter and termeter.
Think eight syllable and six syllable lines. Each line with a di-DUM di-DUM beat.

Thanks to cricketjeff for inspiration from his poem 'The catalyst"

Hope unfolding in the balance... Nice form here, allowing for a bit of sophistication to pour from the underlying sadness. Thoughtful and well penned. A vague extension of emotion, billowing in to reveal the bloom. Thank you for your entry!

I love how despite an echoing sadness in some of your poems you have that glimmer of hope!
    Beautifully done!
