The Cries

Terror,
Haunting,
Fires,
and Death.
All fill my mind,
and torture my soul as I sleep.

Tears in my eyes,
Screams in my head.
Both caused by the ghosts,
the shadows in this room.
They whisper,
they shreak,
and I'm the only one who can hear them.

Suddenly the ground shakes,
the walls collapse.
My ceiling crumbles all around me,
unveiling the night sky.
Unaccompanied by a single star,
the sky is as black as the feathers of a crow.
Silence fills the air...
The world is waiting for something.

A quiet whimper from behind me,
I turn around,
and there stands a little boy staring at me,
with a single tear in his on his cheek.
A connection between our eyes,
the gateways into our souls.
Then as swiftly as he came,
he vanishes,
and all that is left are his cries floating into the night.

Quickly the cold covers my body,
like a mothers arms to a newborn son.
Darkness fills my eyes.

I wake up,
everything is as it used to be.
I lay here confused,
was it a dream,
was it real?
Either way,
the screams and whispers will follow me forever.
But for the last time,
I can hear the little boy's cries,
floating in the air.

    Fantastic

This was just fantastic. I feel as though I can relate, as though this poem captures something which we all have been through at one point in our lives. Keep up the good work
