I am not there. I did not die
don't stand at my grave and cry
I am the shining star up in the sky
prayers and smiles, are all that I ask
now you see, I was lend to you for a while
my life was supposed to ceased
not run like the water of blue nile
I was only lend to you for my charm to see
not for decades or centuries you see
you were supposed to take care of me
I know my stay was brief
but left you with treasure memories
that brought solace to your grief
I am not there. I did not die
don't stand at my grave and cry
I am the shining star up in the sky
Author notes
I wrote this poem when one of my fellow soldier was hit by an IED three days ago, and it hurts to hear that he did not make it, R.I.P, my friend, you have fought well, and we will continue your fight, you legacy will live on for generations and generations to come.
I love you all who gave your life for me to be here today. God bless the USA
