Moods And Motives

The coin that randomly flips sides.
From love to hate,
from life to death,
from heads to tales.

People claim their love in words,
and they can't demonstrate by action.
Forever is a word they spit,
until they lose their satisfaction.
They trust and then take another side,
become a victim of foolish pride.

Love so quickly turns to a game,
and trust so eagerly turns to blame.
I begin to wonder,
if this trust is true,
Was it merely a blunder
when you said I love you.

Words are so easy to toss around,
yet the actions behind them will never be found.
They're claiming in words,
that you make them feel whole.
Yet I watch the hatred,
pass right through their soul.

In words they're proclaiming their love and trust,
yet by actions I see an obsession and lust.
Think twice of the words,
that you're going to say.
The actions behind them,
may lead you astray.

Author notes

You know, it's kind of sad to watch the words I love you get passed around like a hellow greeting. It's even more disappointing to witness those that call others out on their inability to understand unconditional love, then turn around and do the same thing.
I love you is a phrase said by all beings, it seems less than 2% of people actually mean it. Why do you think the words I trust you aren't spoken every 2 minutes in a conversation? This is because, you can fake love and mask it with desire, but you can't fake trust.
I only know a very few that proclaim and actually mean what they say, when they undrstand unconditional love. This poem was inspired by Actions And Motives by 10 Years, Love And Hate by Society Red, and observations that gave me that extra mush.

A contest entry

There's 2 types of people. The type that love you unconditionally because they mean what they say, or the type that proclaim that. Which type are you and why? HONESTY.

very good Brandon, i understand this completly and its clear with a great message, and how you saw trust as one of the elements of love, i hate it when people say i love you without meaning ever part of the world, when you love someone or are ready to say it out loud, it should be because you are aready to give your soul and life for that person, and would do anything to be with them. That the love is their and so strong that it hurts.

That comment raises an interesting question in my mind.

Why does something that seems so blatantly obvious become "ignorant" to most? That wouldn't be the first time, anyone says these words and they don't know the meaning of them.
Some perhaps know the meaning and do not care. Love's becoming the biggest joke ever. Can an emotion become an endangered species?

OMG! your right! can it become endangered? or is it already? But its an emotion, can it? How do we know now a days what love is? unless you feel it, but that can also be feelings for something else, or physical or desire.
