Standing on tippy toes upon my roll chair
I feign to gauge the distance between us
While, smiles and smiles away, you sit
Reading the palms of emoticon gypsies
A legion of cold, grey bricks stare back at me
(I wonder which might prove my window today)
Anticipation wicks each waiting notch of spine
And, I swear, I hear you tunneling towards me
Tearing off the cable I stare down its hollow nucleus
But there are too many curves; thus, I know it is you
I hold the cable to my ear— nothing
But then—a thought
Hauling upon the cable for all I am worth
I fall backwards but do not relent;
If at all possible,
I would hear your news sooner than later
Then failure alights, having taken over the form of my boss;
A vein in a forehead enters first the room
(Lips move like castanets in a sea of frothing piranha)
Dutifully, I bend an ear but—
Either the alignment of my ears is too perfect
Or I fear the frequency, just too high
For I hear not,
(Save the whistling wind forcing canyons between us)
The commandant presses his grey legion ever forwards
Before taking his leave
(And a tiny warehouse grows peculiarly smaller… vague recollections
Of a bank manager next door being pinned to a wall by her desk flutter past)
My muse is only heightened however;
Fingers strike keys in a ferocious fantasy
Betrayed only by tricks of florescent wavering incandescent light;
Clawing to find purchase, I realign the nearest bricks
To form a castle with a huge tower
And it is here, upon this utmost pinnacle,
That your pedestal is dearly placed
Though I still can’t see it;
I shut off my monitor burying a lone reflection;
Waiting for my Rapunzels to let down their flaxen hair
I awake to find the grey legions have advanced yet again
(Or perhaps a few deliveries came during my slumber)
Regardless, another grueling work day is over!
Reflection beckons— note in hand;
Smiles and roses jostle for winds of chance
For braided hair glistens with the wet dew of new gleaming dawns
The grey legion falls back into lines of stalwart salute
For, on this day,
Domains have been conquered and friendships are renewed

It's my way of saying thanks that's all...
I'm not so sure it's poetry. I'll leave that to you. I just like to play and occassionally hang out with cool people like yourself.
Have a great weekend, Kj
