Shatter the Dream

Missing image

It's only forever, not long at all
the goblin king, host of his own faerie ball
He'll lead you in this dance of glances and smiles
if you just let him steal you away for a while
Take a bite of the peach and savor the taste
fall into the crystal ball dream's sweet embrace
The moon in your heart and the stars in your eyes
lost without a mask to hide your surprise

The king makes his way across the dance floor
looking for someone he's seen here before
His eyes glide across them, regarding each face
until he finds the one who looks out of place
Then smirking, he casually captures your hand
singing the words that reflect his demands
Fear me, love me, and I will be your slave

just forget that last line, and mind you behave

As the world falls down, don't turn your eyes away from me
lest you wake from the thirteenth hour with nothing left to see
And only vague memories of what we could have been
the white owl will never fly through your dreams again

You called him 'the king' in the second stanza, it's like he's Elvis or something... sorry, just me and my imagination being silly.
The rhymes are nice, they don't seem very forced at all. I like it, it goes with the movie quite well. Or at least I think it does... I haven't watched that movie in ages...
That guy had weird hair. I object to his hair being that weird and his pants being too tight. It's weird how that's what I think of when I think of that movie...
    Anyway, great write!

I think this captures the song and the idea really well... normally, I hate reading rhyme, but I liked this a lot... better than a freeverse poem would have been, I think, especially

The moon in your heart and the stars in your eyes
lost without a mask to hide your surprise

    Thanks for entering.
