What are you doing right now,
as you read this poem?
Where are you at this moment?
How is your neighbour?
What is she doing?
Where is your friend,
who you haven’t seen in years?
What is he doing right now?
And what is your favourite
band doing as you read this?
The band you’re desperate
to meet, where are they now?
Or, how about the child you saw
on that relief commercial
the other day.
The one you had to turn off
because you couldn't handle
seeing a glimpse of reality.
What is she doing right now?
The child who had been orphaned
before she even learned to walk.
How is she feeling at this moment?
The child who now walks mile every morning
to find fresh water.
Where is she as you read this?
The child who works 18 hours a day
and comes home to darkness.
Now, what are you doing,
As you read this poem?
How are you?

Powerful piece from a pretty original angle. Nice write, it certainly got me thinking which doesn't happen all that often.

Wow
I am sad...But this is an amazingly powerful thought provoking piece. I actually found myself trying to answer the many questions raised here. I applaud this piece...You have a talent for making one think and that is a great thing.

This is so powerful and a needed reminder to remember those less fortunate than us. So many of us get caught up in our own lives that we forget about those who are struggling like this every day of their young lives. It is sad to think about but we must first acknowledge these problems and then take some kind of action to effect change for them. Thanks for this strong message. Blessings, Patty

Wow I am really impressed. This is a really strong poem and made me think of a missions trip I went on, plenty of the people in that village have to walk a mile for water and have that type of life. I honestly cant think of anything to critisize it. Really good job. Clappy time!

This is very powerful. It has a message that everyone needs to hear. I hope everyone who reads this will feel its impact as much as I did. It's so easy to get caught up in the daily activities of life and forget those who are less fortunate. A powerful and meaningful write.
