These shadows creep
Like doubts they seep
Within the walls, within the deep
Her blue eyes assure me
That everything will be fine
That I can piece it all together
And that all I need is time
Time to look to the stars blinded by the light
Time to look into a heart that is blinded by strife
She takes my hand, with every resonating chord
And tells me that this is all worth living for
And even though she doesn't know me by name
She is always there, singing strength
So with her aided grace, I take these keys in hand
The ones that have haunted me
The ones that I can't turn unto the sand
And find the doors I've failed to open, in an attempt to understand
And lock the ones that haunt me, and cloud who I am.
And so despite my disabilities, and inabilities, I have found myself again
I've locked the last open door, and have turned to face the wind.
Author notes
This poem is for a contest, and also to remind myself how many times Amy Lee, as well as the rest of Evanescence have helped me through so many hard times. Not only that...But due to a mild case of Cerebral Palsy, I thought I would never be able to play piano...and thanks to her insperation, I can play her songs and sing along, knowing within my heart of hearts I can do whatever I set my mind to.
I love you Amy...From the bottom of my heart; thank you.

Very pretty.. The last open door was a creative spin off of Evanescences title..I liked how you could bond parts of Amy Lee's lyrics to you own poem. Beautiful.. I loved her new album so much.
