if only I had known how things would end
that after 26 years we would break up
I still would have married you
for I loved you very much
I thank you for the children
that our marriage brought to us
for all the memories that I have
of times we spent together of all the fun we had
I could dwell on all the if only or the what ifs............
but what good would that do me
for it would only bring out bitterness
hurts and pain would then exist
I'm sorry that our love wasn't
able to last as husband and wife
but I am very happy for the love
of a good friend in you I have
I wish for you to find what will
make your heart happy, what will give you joy
as you've wished for me to find the happiness
that I have
Thank you my precious friend
I'm happy we are close
you will always have a place in my heart
and in my life as my best friend
