My thoughts on global warming
I wonder now what our ancestors think
of how we treated that which is our home.
It’s sure enough to drive a bloke to drink
to see how much is made of Styrofoam.
I saw our world come crashing down on me
but things won’t get me down like this no more.
To fight for what is right is what I see.
I’ll stand up tall and walk on through the door.
My footprints make a mark as I join friends
to leave this earth a better place to live.
So let’s begin to fight and make amends.
To future children born some future give!
For they deserve to have our trust to see
that we can leave some hope to carry on
to live in peace and know that they are free.
No bitter tears to shed when fear has gone.
I know we had to write a funny poem
but this is how I feel about our home.

Dear Jen, good to see you back and writing again, at least we got it in the right spot after you put it on my site when we forgot to sign me out because we were yakking too much. That was a fiasco but it worked out and your poem looks great!
Love AJ

Dear Jen, Yes it's our children who will suffer in the long run, what kind of world are we leaving them. Plus, with all the violence between our youths lately, that will become worse. Let's hope everyone wakes up in time.
I loved your poem.
Love Hine

Dear Jen,
Your thoughts and your heart are in the right place!
We need to do what we can so that those who inhabit this planet Earth in the future will not have to suffer due to the actions or the inaction of earth's inhabitants today.
Best of Luck in the contest! Great to have you back! Glad you're feeling better!
Love,
Maureen

Dear Jenelda,
I too believe that, while we’re on this Earth,
we all should try to do whate’er we can
to nurture Nature’s gifts with all our worth
and also try to help our fellow man.
And I believe it’s even more essential
that everyone should struggle to preserve
what God has made with Wisdom providential
for us – not to despoil, but to conserve.
Thus, we can leave this life with peace of mind,
knowing we did our best for those behind.

I fully endorse the sentiments which your poem expresses
and, in applauding it, wish you best of luck in the voting.
And may I say how pleased I am that you have recovered and are writing again?

It's good to see you back, Jenelda. I noticed you were gone but never knew why... still don't but what's important is that you're back... and with a very nice entry to the contest

Your poem speaks out with a message for all, lets hope it's heeded.
Good luck in the contest
Dee

Jenelda! Long time no see...feeling better I hope.
Well I like serious and funny so it's all the same to me.
Illness makes us see the bigger picture and it's a noble thought to want to make the world a better place and more people need to think like you, not only for global warming but in all walks of life.
Too many think only of themselves and immediate gratification, and I'm sure I'm guilty too. There's still time to fix all that I guess.
